Description
A perfect blend of savory pork, sweet brown sugar, and a touch of jalapeño heat, this Sweet Jalapeño Pork is a flavor-packed dish that’s both comforting and exciting.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs pork shoulder – or use chicken thighs as a leaner choice
- 1/2 cup brown sugar – adds rich sweetness
- 2–3 jalapeños, sliced – adjust to taste
- 4 garlic cloves, minced – brings depth
- 1 cup chicken broth – or vegetable broth
- 1 tbsp soy sauce – for umami flavor
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar – a tangy touch
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped cilantro – optional garnish
Instructions
- Trim excess fat from pork shoulder and cut into chunks for even cooking.
- In a slow cooker, mix brown sugar, jalapeños, garlic, broth, soy sauce, and vinegar until blended.
- Add pork to the mixture and season with salt and pepper.
- Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or on high for 4–5 hours, until meat shreds easily.
- Shred pork in the cooker and stir into the sauce. Let sit 15 minutes to absorb flavor.
- Serve over rice, in tacos, or burrito bowls. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate pork overnight in the sauce. Add bell peppers or onions for a twist. Keeps up to 3 days in the fridge, or freeze for later meals.
