- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- Edible black spiders (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk melted butter with both sugars until smooth.
- Mix in eggs one at a time, stirring well between each. Add vanilla extract and combine.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined; don’t overmix.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Spread the batter evenly in the greased pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let brownies cool for 15 minutes before slicing. Decorate with edible spiders for a spooky finish.
Notes
Try folding in chopped nuts or a bit of espresso powder for extra depth. Brownies can be wrapped and frozen for several weeks, great for make-ahead treats.
