Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound sausage (spicy or mild)
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning until smooth.
- Add sausage and combine well so the mixture is evenly coated.
- Roll out crescent dough on a floured surface and press seams together.
- Spread the sausage mixture evenly across the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long edge and slice into 1-inch pieces.
- Arrange slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Beat the egg and brush over each pinwheel.
- Bake 15-20 minutes until golden brown and sizzling.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Avoid overfilling to prevent the rolls from bursting. For extra kick, add diced jalapeños to the filling. You can prep and freeze ahead, then bake straight from frozen with extra time. Puff pastry also makes a great alternative to crescent dough.
