Description
These Sausage French Toast Roll-Ups are the ultimate breakfast treat, a cozy, savory-sweet combo that’s perfect for brunch or family mornings. Crisp on the outside, tender and flavorful inside.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 large slices of bread (Texas toast works best)
- 1 pound breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup maple syrup (for serving)
- Butter or oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat, crumbling it until fully cooked. Drain and let cool.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon.
- Flatten each bread slice with a rolling pin or your hand. Spoon some sausage onto one end and roll tightly. Repeat for all slices.
- Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat. Dip each roll-up in the egg mixture and place seam-side down in the skillet.
- Cook each roll-up for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crisp. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm with a drizzle of maple syrup. Enjoy!
Notes
Try stuffing a bit of cheese like cheddar or mozzarella for extra flavor. Use leftover sausage for scrambled eggs or freeze cooked roll-ups for a quick morning meal.
