Description

These Red Velvet Cookies are a cozy, chewy take on the classic cake, packed with that signature red hue, a hint of cocoa, and topped with a smooth cream cheese frosting. A treat that looks as good as it tastes!


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Optional: Mini chocolate chips or white chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl until fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Mix in the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually stir in dry ingredients just until combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  5. Scoop dough onto prepared sheet using a tablespoon, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set. Cool on sheet for a few minutes before moving to a wire rack.
  7. Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth. Frost cookies once completely cool.

Notes

Avoid over-mixing the dough to keep cookies soft. Let cookies cool fully before frosting so the topping stays put. Try adding sprinkles or a drizzle of ganache for a fun twist!
