Description

These soft, chewy Pretzel Bites are the ultimate comfort snack, perfect for sharing, dipping, and devouring. Great for game days, parties, or cozy nights in!


Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, sugar, and salt. Stir to form a dough, then knead on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  5. Bring 10 cups of water to a boil in a large pot. Carefully add baking soda and reduce to a simmer.
  6. Punch down the dough and cut into 1–2 inch pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
  7. Drop each dough ball into the simmering water for 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on baking sheets.
  8. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  9. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly and enjoy!

Notes

Freeze baked bites and reheat in the oven for a quick snack. Try cinnamon sugar or everything seasoning for variety. Mix in cheese or spices to flavor the dough.
