Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 3 large egg whites, aged
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar (for filling)
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1/2 cup crushed Oreo cookies
Instructions
- Sift together almond flour, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder into a bowl.
- In another bowl, whip egg whites to soft peaks, then slowly add granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Fold dry ingredients into the whipped egg whites gently until the batter flows like lava.
- Pipe 1-inch rounds onto parchment-lined baking sheets and let sit for 30 minutes.
- Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 15–20 minutes, then let cool completely.
- For the filling, mix butter, powdered sugar, cream, and crushed Oreos until smooth.
- Pair similar-sized shells, pipe filling on one, and sandwich with the other.
Notes
Avoid overmixing the batter to ensure airy macarons. Aging egg whites helps achieve the ideal texture.
