One-Pot Plov Recipe

Description

A hearty, flavorful dish made in one pot, combining tender meat, fragrant rice, and vegetables with warm spices for the ultimate comfort meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice (or any long-grain rice)
  • 1 lb lamb or beef, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken or beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add chopped onions and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the diced carrots and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the meat and brown it well on all sides to build flavor.
  4. Mix in garlic, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until the spices release their aroma.
  5. Pour in the broth, bring it to a boil, then lower to a simmer and cover the pot.
  6. After 10 minutes, add the rinsed rice on top of the meat mixture without stirring. Make a small well in the center of the rice.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 20-25 minutes until the rice is tender and the broth is absorbed.
  8. Fluff the rice gently and mix with meat and vegetables before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add chili flakes or a cinnamon stick with the spices. You can swap the meat with chickpeas or veggies for a vegetarian twist. Let the dish rest a few minutes before serving to blend the flavors beautifully.
