Description
Cozy up with a bowl of classic Old Fashioned Goulash, a comforting, flavorful mix of ground beef, pasta, and savory spices that’s perfect for chilly evenings or casual get-togethers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional for topping)
Instructions
- In a large pot over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
- Pour in the diced tomatoes (with juices), beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Stir until everything is blended well.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for 5 minutes to let the flavors come together.
- Add the elbow macaroni, stirring occasionally to avoid sticking. Cover and cook for 10 to 12 minutes or until the pasta is tender.
- Season with salt and pepper to your liking. For extra richness, sprinkle cheddar cheese over the top, cover again, and let it melt before serving.
- Serve warm and enjoy! A simple green salad or warm bread on the side pairs beautifully with this dish.
Notes
Avoid overcooking the pasta to keep the texture just right. Leftovers can be frozen for up to 3 months. To switch things up, try adding bell peppers or zucchini while cooking.
