Description
This Honey Sesame Chicken with Broccoli is the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Tender chicken bites are coated in a sticky honey-sesame glaze and paired with bright, crisp broccoli for a quick and nutritious dinner that’ll have everyone coming back for seconds.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
- Warm sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the chicken to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
- Pour in the honey and soy sauce. Mix thoroughly so the chicken is coated with the glaze.
- Stir in the broccoli, cover, and let steam for 3–5 minutes until it becomes tender-crisp and vibrant green.
- If you’d like a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch with a splash of water, then stir it into the pan. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until thickened.
- Finish by sprinkling toasted sesame seeds over the dish just before serving.
Notes
For extra crunch, add chopped cashews or peanuts as a garnish. This dish reheats well and makes a great meal prep option. To save time, you can also use pre-cooked rotisserie chicken and simply warm it in the sauce.
