Description
Juicy grilled chicken paired with sweet pineapple and tangy teriyaki sauce, all wrapped up in a toasted bun – these Grilled Hawaiian Chicken Sandwiches are sunshine on a plate. Perfect for any picnic or family dinner!
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
- 1 cup teriyaki sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 4 slices fresh pineapple (canned can be used if needed)
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted
- 1 cup fresh lettuce (romaine adds great crunch)
- Optional toppings: sliced tomatoes, red onions, jalapeños
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken breasts in half of the teriyaki sauce for at least 30 minutes to lock in flavor and keep them juicy.
- Heat your grill to medium-high. Grill chicken for 6–8 minutes per side, or until internal temp hits 165°F. Add pineapple slices to the grill for the last few minutes to caramelize.
- Toast the hamburger buns until golden and crispy, either on the grill or in a toaster.
- Assemble the sandwich starting with the bun base, then chicken, grilled pineapple, lettuce, and any other toppings you enjoy.
- Drizzle with the remaining teriyaki sauce, top with the other half of the bun, and serve immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a dash of smoked paprika or garlic powder before grilling. Overnight marination brings deeper taste, but avoid over-marinating. Feel free to experiment with extras like avocado or a spicy aioli.
