Description
Moist, rich, and bursting with chocolate-coconut goodness, this German Chocolate Poke Cake Delight is the perfect twist on a classic favorite. Easy to make and utterly satisfying, it’s an ideal dessert for any celebration or cozy night in.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box German chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup coconut flakes
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup chocolate fudge frosting
- Whipped topping for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix cake mix, water, oil, and eggs. Beat for 2 minutes until smooth.
- Pour into prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cake cool for 10 minutes. Use a wooden spoon handle or skewer to poke holes all over the cake.
- Evenly pour sweetened condensed milk over the top, allowing it to soak into the holes.
- In a separate bowl, mix coconut flakes and chopped pecans, then spread over the cake.
- Top with chocolate fudge frosting, spreading evenly.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving for best results.
Notes
Let the cake cool before poking to avoid sogginess. Try swapping pecans for walnuts or drizzling caramel over the top for added flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
