Description

These double chocolate cookies are rich, chewy, and loaded with gooey chocolate chips. Perfect for any occasion, they’re simple to make and sure to impress.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream butter, sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in egg and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts if desired.
  7. Drop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto a lined baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake 10–12 minutes, until edges are set but centers look slightly underdone.
  9. Cool on baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of espresso powder. Try swapping in white chocolate or peppermint chips for variety. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
