Description
There’s something irresistibly cozy about a creamy bowl of rice pudding. This Creamiest Rice Pudding is my favorite go-to when I crave something warm, sweet, and comforting. Made with a rich blend of milks and a touch of vanilla, it’s a classic dessert that brings generations together.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup jasmine rice (or Arborio rice for extra creaminess)
- 4 cups whole milk (or almond milk for dairy-free)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Ground cinnamon or nutmeg (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- In a large saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, whole milk, heavy cream, sugar, and salt. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Lower the heat and stir frequently. Let it simmer for 30 to 35 minutes, until the rice is tender and the pudding thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let it cool slightly.
- Serve warm or chilled, topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg if desired.
Notes
For an extra indulgent flavor, simmer a cinnamon stick in the milk. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days, and reheat gently with a splash of milk. Feel free to experiment with extracts like almond or coconut for a twist.
