- 3 cups all-purpose flour (swap with whole wheat or gluten-free if desired)
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
Instructions
- Mix warm water and yeast in a small bowl. Stir and let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, garlic powder, basil, oregano, thyme, and rosemary.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to dry ingredients. Stir until combined, using hands or a spoon if needed.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down dough and shape into one or two loaves. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Let shaped dough rest for 20–30 minutes.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and sounds hollow when tapped underneath.
- Cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
Try kneading with a stand mixer for convenience. Feel free to mix in extras like chopped olives or sun-dried tomatoes. Great for turning into croutons or enjoying toasted with eggs.
