Description

Chewy, golden coconut macaroons made effortlessly at home. These treats are bursting with tropical flavor and are perfect for any sweet craving or festive gathering.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups shredded unsweetened coconut
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the shredded coconut, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and salt until fully combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gently fold them into the coconut mixture without deflating them.
  4. Using a tablespoon, scoop the mixture onto the baking sheet in small mounds, spacing them slightly apart.
  5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until tops are lightly golden. Monitor closely toward the end to prevent over-baking.
  6. Let macaroons cool for a few minutes on the sheet, then transfer to a wire rack. If desired, dip the bottoms in melted chocolate once cooled.

Notes

Macaroons can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 7 days or frozen for longer storage. For a flavor twist, try adding a few drops of almond extract or roll in toasted coconut before baking.
