Description
Classic bread pudding is that warm, nostalgic dessert that wraps you in comfort with every bite. It’s easy to make and a delicious way to use up leftover bread.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups cubed day-old bread (brioche, sourdough, or rolls work great)
- 2 cups whole milk (or substitute with half-and-half for richness)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons melted butter (plus more for greasing the dish)
- 1 cup dried fruits like raisins or cherries (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
- In a large bowl, whisk milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until combined.
- Add cubed bread and gently mix. Let soak for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in dried fruits if using, then pour mixture into the greased dish.
- Drizzle melted butter on top and bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and set in the middle.
- Cool slightly before serving. Enjoy as-is or top with ice cream or maple syrup.
Notes
Customize it by adding chocolate chips or caramel swirls. For extra flavor, a splash of bourbon or rum does wonders. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat when needed.
