Chocolate Cherry Rice Krispies Treats

  • Author: Navy Sinclair
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 12 squares 1x

Description

A rich and fruity twist on the classic Rice Krispies treat, combining gooey marshmallows, smooth chocolate, and tart cherries for a crunchy, chewy, and indulgent dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries (or fresh if preferred)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over low heat. Add mini marshmallows and stir continuously until melted and smooth.
  2. Remove the pan from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  3. Add Rice Krispies cereal in batches, mixing well until fully coated.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips and dried cherries until evenly distributed.
  5. With a buttered spatula, press the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch pan. Spread evenly and let cool at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  6. Once set, cut into squares and serve.

Notes

Use low heat to melt marshmallows to avoid them hardening. Press the mixture gently into the pan for a softer texture. For extra richness, drizzle melted chocolate on top before serving.
