Description
These Chocolate Cherry Brownies blend the richness of chocolate with the sweet-tart burst of cherries for a treat that’s both comforting and indulgent. Perfect for sharing or savoring solo, this recipe turns a basic brownie into something extra special.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted (can be replaced with coconut oil for a dairy-free option)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup cherries, halved and pitted (fresh or frozen; dried works for a chewy version)
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional for added richness)
Instructions
- Set your oven to preheat at 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a mixing bowl, stir together melted butter and sugar until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until glossy and fully incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, sift flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually blend into the wet ingredients without overmixing.
- Carefully fold in the cherries and chocolate chips, keeping the cherries mostly whole for bursts of flavor.
- Pour the batter evenly into the pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let brownies cool in the pan for 10 minutes before moving them to a wire rack. Patience pays off here!
Notes
Add a spoonful of espresso powder for deeper chocolate notes. You can play with different chocolate chips like dark or mint. Store in an airtight container for up to four days at room temperature or refrigerate for extended freshness.
