Description
If chocolate is your happy place, these Cherry Mash Truffles are a must-try. Bursting with the sweet-tart flavor of cherries and wrapped in velvety chocolate, each bite is a small, joyful celebration. Inspired by the old-school Cherry Mash bars, this homemade version brings gourmet flair to a nostalgic classic.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup cherry preserves
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup crushed nuts (almonds or walnuts work great)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate chips gently over a double boiler, stirring until fully smooth and melted.
- Take off the heat and stir in the sweetened condensed milk, cherry preserves, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
- Let the mixture cool slightly, then place in the fridge for 30 to 60 minutes until it firms up.
- Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions and roll them into balls. Roll each ball in crushed nuts until coated.
- Arrange truffles on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate again until set. Serve chilled and enjoy!
Notes
For added depth, try a drop of almond extract. Store leftovers in the fridge in a sealed container for up to a week. Add a splash of cherry liqueur if you’re in the mood for something more grown-up!
