Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium green cabbage (about 2–3 lbs), chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or a mix)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 cup olive oil or melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a large baking dish with olive oil.
- Boil chopped cabbage in a large pot for 5 minutes until tender. Drain thoroughly.
- Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat until soft and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine cabbage, sautéed mixture, sour cream, and half the cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
- Spread the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top, then cover with breadcrumbs.
- Drizzle olive oil or melted butter over the breadcrumbs and bake for 30-40 minutes until golden and bubbling.
Notes
Be sure to drain the cabbage well to avoid excess moisture. Great as a side or a main, and pairs wonderfully with a fresh salad.
