Description
A warm, comforting, and family-friendly dish, this Cheesy Bowtie Pasta combines tender pasta with a creamy, melty cheese sauce that’s irresistibly good.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz bowtie pasta
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (mix with mozzarella for extra creaminess if desired)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook the bowtie pasta until al dente according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Once bubbling, whisk in the flour to create a smooth roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
- Slowly add milk to the roux, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Continue whisking until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add shredded cheese gradually, stirring until fully melted and smooth.
- Add the cooked bowtie pasta to the sauce and stir well to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add a little more milk until desired consistency is reached.
- Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
For best results, use freshly shredded cheese for a creamier texture. Great for leftovers and easy to customize with proteins or vegetables.
