Cheesy Bowtie Pasta

  • Author: Navy Sinclair
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 6 to 8 servings 1x

Description

A warm, comforting, and family-friendly dish, this Cheesy Bowtie Pasta combines tender pasta with a creamy, melty cheese sauce that’s irresistibly good.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz bowtie pasta
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (mix with mozzarella for extra creaminess if desired)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook the bowtie pasta until al dente according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Once bubbling, whisk in the flour to create a smooth roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. Slowly add milk to the roux, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Continue whisking until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add shredded cheese gradually, stirring until fully melted and smooth.
  5. Add the cooked bowtie pasta to the sauce and stir well to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add a little more milk until desired consistency is reached.
  6. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, use freshly shredded cheese for a creamier texture. Great for leftovers and easy to customize with proteins or vegetables.
