Description

Cozy up with this cheesy, meaty baked rigatoni – a soul-warming classic perfect for weeknights, potlucks, or anytime you want comfort food at its best.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 pound ground sausage
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 ½ tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 pound rigatoni pasta
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add rigatoni, and cook until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until soft and fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and sausage to the skillet. Cook until fully browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  4. Pour in marinara sauce and stir. Add Italian seasoning and fresh basil. Simmer for a few minutes, and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Combine cooked pasta with the sauce mixture until evenly coated.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  7. Spread half of the pasta in the dish, sprinkle with half the mozzarella and Parmesan. Add the rest of the pasta and top with remaining cheese.
  8. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes until bubbly and golden on top. Let sit 10 minutes before serving.
  9. Garnish with more fresh basil and enjoy.
