- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 pound ground sausage
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 1 ½ tablespoons Italian seasoning
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 pound rigatoni pasta
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add rigatoni, and cook until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until soft and fragrant.
- Add ground beef and sausage to the skillet. Cook until fully browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Pour in marinara sauce and stir. Add Italian seasoning and fresh basil. Simmer for a few minutes, and season with salt and pepper.
- Combine cooked pasta with the sauce mixture until evenly coated.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread half of the pasta in the dish, sprinkle with half the mozzarella and Parmesan. Add the rest of the pasta and top with remaining cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 40 minutes until bubbly and golden on top. Let sit 10 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with more fresh basil and enjoy.
