Description
This baked orange chicken is a flavorful, sweet and tangy comfort food that’s perfect for family dinners or casual get-togethers. It delivers bold citrus flavor without the heaviness of frying, and will quickly become a weeknight favorite.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
- 1 cup orange juice, freshly squeezed is best
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
- Green onions, chopped for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Place chicken breasts in a baking dish and pour marinade over them. Let sit for at least 30 minutes (longer if time allows).
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Meanwhile, simmer leftover marinade in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in cornstarch mixed with a tablespoon of water until sauce thickens.
- Let the baked chicken rest a few minutes, slice, and drizzle with the thickened sauce. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if using.
Notes
For deeper flavor, marinate the chicken for a few hours. Fresh orange juice adds brightness, but store-bought works too. Add a bit of chili sauce or red pepper flakes if you enjoy a spicy kick.
