Description
These traditional German frikadellen bring warmth and flavor to your table, with their crispy outside and juicy, tender center. A true comfort food that’s perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (gluten-free if preferred)
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tbsp dried)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- Oil for frying (canola or vegetable)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground meat, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, parsley, salt, pepper, paprika, and mustard. Mix thoroughly until everything is well incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs or patties, about 1 inch thick or to your preference.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat, just enough to cover the bottom of the pan.
- Add the frikadellen to the skillet without overcrowding. Cook 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil. Let rest a few minutes before serving.
Notes
You can add spices like cumin or coriander for extra flavor. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat in a skillet or oven before enjoying.
