Description

Crispy, golden, and healthier hash browns made right in the air fryer, perfect for a busy breakfast or quick snack without the mess of traditional frying.


Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and grated (around 1.5 lbs); can substitute with sweet potatoes
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped or grated (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes. Place them in cold water for 15 minutes to remove excess starch.
  2. Drain, rinse, and thoroughly squeeze out moisture using a clean towel to ensure maximum crispiness.
  3. Combine grated potatoes, onion (if using), oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix well.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spread the mixture evenly in the basket without overcrowding.
  5. Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking halfway through, until golden and crispy. Add extra time if needed for extra crunch.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with chives if desired. Enjoy as-is or pair with eggs or your favorite dip.

Notes

Be sure to remove as much moisture from the potatoes as possible to get that ideal crisp texture. Don’t overload your air fryer, cook in batches for the best results.
